About Me
A gentler way forward.
Together, we'll work to understand the experiences and patterns that have shaped you, and find practical ways forward that feel authentic to who you are.
I'm Lucia Borrelli (she/her), a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who works with teens, adults, and couples. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult relationship, struggling with intense emotions, or finding yourself caught in patterns you'd like to change, therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of what's happening, and move toward the life you want.
I believe therapy is most helpful when you feel genuinely understood. My role isn't to have all the answers, but to work alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and honesty as we make sense of your experiences together.
My approach is relational, practical, and tailored to you. We'll spend time understanding the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped you while also finding strategies that can help you navigate life's challenges outside of therapy. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic approach, I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Somatic approaches, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), adapting our work to what feels most helpful for you.
I strive to create a space that is affirming, inclusive, and grounded in an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework. I welcome clients of all identities and am committed to providing neurodivergent-affirming and 2SLGBTQIA+-affirming care. I also recognize that our lives are shaped by the systems and communities we live in, and I believe it's important to consider that broader context alongside your individual experiences.
What therapy with me looks like
Therapy with me is a space to slow things down and get curious about what is happening for you, both on the surface and underneath it. We look at what you are feeling, what feels difficult or stuck, and what matters most to you, including your values and the kind of life you want to be living.
My approach is relational, which is a clinical way of saying: what happens between us matters. The relationship we build in session is not a backdrop to the real work. It is the work, or at least a fundamental part of it. Many of our deepest patterns formed in relationships, and it is within a safe, honest relationship that those patterns can start to shift.
We also stay grounded in what is happening in your life right now. I am interested in what is showing up this week, what feels hard in the moment, and what might actually help. Therapy can hold depth and insight, while still being practical and connected to your day to day experience.
Who I work with
I work with adults who feel stuck in patterns they know aren't serving them but can't seem to break on their own. People carrying shame, self-criticism, or a quiet sense that something needs to change but who aren't sure where to start.
Many of my clients come to me navigating trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, body image struggles, difficulties with emotion regulation, or questions about self-worth. Some are exploring identity. Some are in crisis. Some just have a steady hum of "not okay" that they're finally ready to look at.
I am a 2SLGBTQIA+-affirming therapist and I practise from an anti-oppressive framework. That means I pay attention to context, to the systems and structures that shape your life, and I don't ask you to leave parts of yourself at the door. All of who you are is welcome here.
A note on fit
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of good outcomes, more than any single modality or technique. That means the right therapist isn't just someone with the right credentials. It's someone you feel safe enough with to be honest.
If you're wondering whether we'd be a good fit, I'm happy to have that conversation. A brief initial consultation gives us both a chance to check in and see if this feels right. And if I'm not the right person for you, I'll do my best to help you find someone who is.
